How do you create a podcast that gives young people a platform while connecting them with inspiring city leaders? Produced in partnership with HideOut Youth Zone, What Manchester Taught Me bridges the gap between Manchester’s established community figures and its next generation. Cue Productions brought full-service technical expertise and creative guidance to help bring this series to life.
HideOut Youth Zone is a dedicated youth charity in Gorton, East Manchester, providing young people with a safe environment and opportunities to discover their potential. They envisioned a podcast that would explore what Manchester means to those who have built successful careers and lives in the city.
The goal was to pair meaningful community impact with top-tier audio quality. The series needed to highlight key lessons around resilience, ambition, and community, serving as both an inspiring resource for HideOut’s young members and an engaging listen for the broader Manchester public.

Working on a project with a youth charity meant balancing key goals: keeping the recording process accessible and welcoming while delivering a broadcast-ready audio product.
We focused on:
What Manchester Taught Me successfully connected social responsibility with genuine youth empowerment.
The strength of the show lies in its heart and practical wisdom. Listeners enjoy hearing well-known local figures talk openly about their early failures, breakthrough moments, and the specific qualities of Manchester that helped them succeed. It offers a refreshing, down-to-earth perspective that feels deeply personal and rooted in the local community.
Manchester has a distinct energy, and our job was to capture that in the audio. We wanted listeners to feel like they were sitting in the room, hearing real stories from the people who make the city what it is.
